Vauxhall is bursting at the seams with things to do, see and eat, and most importantly there is something to everyone’s taste. The most notable of these is the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens; in the summer visitors can go horse riding and several food and arts festivals feature there, whilst in winter arguably some of the most spectacular London winter scenes can be experienced with a stroll through the grounds of the park. Families can visit the Vauxhall city farm all year round, it’s one of the very few inner London working farms. Vauxhall enjoys the benefits of a variety of great food options, in particular from its close proximity to Little Lisbon, on the South Lambeth Road.
Known as the Portuguese quarter of London, the area is known for its great Portuguese food. Alternatively, visitors can treat themselves to a variety of European, African and American food options at the Vauxhall Arches, a charming row of restaurants and bars situated in the old railway arches near the station. Vauxhall has one of the best vantage points for views of the river Thames, there are a number of pubs situated next to the river which are a great way to while away a summer afternoon, in particular the aptly named, The Riverside Pub. Close to Westminster, with just a short walk over the Vauxhall Bridge taking you to essential London sightseeing spots such as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
The jewel in Vauxhalls crown is the Oval cricket ground, home to the Surrey cricket team and one of London’s best sporting venues. For film buffs, the MI6 building, in the heart of Vauxhall, has featured in several James Bond films. Those wishing to experience a real taste of London, ensure to pay a visit to the New Covent Garden market on Nine Elms lane, where every day an array of street performers can be seen, and one off handmade items bought from the independent market stalls and stores.

Close to...
The River Thames (5 minutes’ walk) – The heart of the city, London grew up around the river (which stretches for over 346 kilometres) to become the city it is today. Walk alongside the river and soak up the atmosphere of the city.
Buckingham Palace (15 minutes tube) – Home to one of the oldest Royal families and home to the Queen of England herself. Often the Changing of the Horse Guard takes place by the Palace, which is an essential London sight to witness. During the summer visitors can book a tour of the palaces state rooms.
The Oval (10 minutes’ walk) – A spectacular cricket ground and one of the only sporting venues located in such a central part of London. The Oval also has excellent conference and dining facilities for corporate visitors to London.
Tate Britain (11 minutes’ walk) – Tate Britain possesses a wealth of exhibitions and historic art piece. London is a mecca for overseas art students due to the extensive free entry to its museums and art galleries. Tate Britain is no different, entrance is free. Visitors can also take advantage of the sister gallery, Tate Modern, on London’s South Bank, which houses a more contemporary collection.
Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament (10 minutes tube) – Two staple must see sights on any London itinerary. Big Ben is the most iconic London sight to behold. A little known fact is that the bell inside the clock tower is actually called Big Ben, not the clock face itself. Nearby the Houses of Parliament make for a great photo stop, this is where all the most important decisions effecting the United Kingdom are made on a daily basis.
