"Palatinus houses" were built in 1910-11, and represent an interesting mixture of art nouveau (bauhaus) and other contemporary styles. They are protected by the UNESCO World Heritages. It has been a popular middle-class/intellectual residential district ever since it was built. The area closest to the river Danube is the most expensive, spacious and pleasant, especially the buildings around Jaszai Mari square, Margaret bridge head, like the "Palatinus Houses" which are located on the riverside. Family-friendly green play-ground can be found just a few steps behind in the clean Szent Istvan park, also riverside.
