Rental Details

The Agape Leelanau Cottage is a beautiful, large, family cottage in Frankfort, Michigan, a small, beautiful, and beachy tourist town located on Lake Michigan where the Betsie River empties into Lake Michigan. This vacation rental home was just added to the Frankfort vacation rental market in December, 2013 after several years of detailed renovations and remodeling by the Haan family.  We truly strive to provide our guests with an exceptional experience and this property is already ranked #1 among more than 800 vacation rental properties in the entire state of Michigan on Dwellable.

This cottage provides a wonderful vacation environment for both large and small families and even multiple families and large groups. It is located at 719 Leelanau Avenue in Frankfort, just a short 5 to 10 minute walk from beautiful downtown Frankfort, Lake Michigan, and Betsie Lake. (It is exactly 0.6 miles from Frankfort Beach and Lake Michigan.) It is also conveniently close to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Crystal Mountain Resort. It is 1,950 square feet in size and has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is fully furnished (including all sheets and bedding, dishes, and kitchen utensils) and it sleeps up to 10 comfortably.

The cottage has an historic Arts and Crafts design, which was popular in the U.S. between 1860 and 1910. We want to research the history of the house further, but, at present, we do know that it was once a lodge for railroad workers and other boarders when several rail and car ferries operated out of Frankfort and Frankfort was a commercial railway shipping port on the Great Lakes.

The details of the home's design were ahead of its time though, with a very open floor plan and numerous large windows that supply wonderful natural lighting throughout the house, bringing in the full beauty of the brilliant northern Michigan sunshine. The interior styling of the home is bright and uplifting, yet neutral, throughout the home. All of the kitchen appliances (gas range, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker) have been replaced with new appliances within the last 3 years and the cottage even includes a large laundry room with a new front-load washer and dryer. Both of the bathrooms have been extensively and beautifully remodeled, with the downstairs bathroom featuring a Jacuzzi bathtub - perfect for relaxing after a great day of exploring northern Michigan, particularly if this includes skiing or snowboarding at Crystal Mountain Resort.

The size and location of the cottage allows for a wonderful family (or extended family ;-) vacation exploring all that the northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula has to offer - Lake Michigan, fantastic beaches, restaurants, shops, wineries, and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Boating, hiking, bicycling, rollerblading, scenic drives, sunbathing on Lake Michigan beaches, shopping, and dining are all nearby. The cottage is also only 45 minutes (35 miles) west of Traverse City if guests desire "bigger city" attractions like shopping malls. We believe that this lovely cottage and its fantastic location will provide your family with a wonderful, fascinating, and unique vacation experience while visiting family or exploring all of the beauty that northwest Michigan has to offer.

In terms of weather, the latitude of being in northern Michigan in combination with being directly on Lake Michigan keeps Frankfort nicely cool in the summer and warmer than surrounding areas in the winter.

We hope that you will consider the Agape Leelanau Cottage when planning a vacation trip in northern Michigan.  Best wishes and God bless!  :-)
