The southern Thuringian Forest is one of the most beautiful upland regions in Europe and is known as the 'green heart of Germany'. Kilometres of hiking trails invite you to ramble all day or stroll at your leisure. The famed, historic Rennsteig ridgeway is one of the best-known and most popular hiking trails in Germany. You will find this detached holiday cottage in a unique, tranquil and sunny setting at the edge of the forest and the edge of the little village of Engenstein. Make yourself comfortable on the covered terrace and enjoy a marvellous view of the surrounding forest. From the car park (about 50 metres) the holiday house is reached via a small path (see pictures). In both summer and winter, the region offers a wide range of sport and leisure options as well as numerous sights and museums. Favourite excursion destinations: Erfurt (60 km), Weimar (70 km) and Eisenach (100 km).
