Rental Details
Welcome to my Washington DC metro home 20min from the US Capitol: a charming Cape Cod with central air conditioning & heat, a 2-car carport, and a huge back yard with a private pool (see photos). You can book either one or two suites in my home, both sleeping two persons max: (1) the penthouse suite [BOOKED OUT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE - see separate property description), or (2) the garden suite.
GARDEN SUITE
The equally secluded garden/pool suite oasts a huge, wood-paneled bedroom with a queen-size bed, a private shower, and a wall-to-wall closet. It has a separate street-level entrance and a direct view and access of the pool area.
All guests are welcome to use the terrace door via the back yard to access the main floor of the house, the shared dining room, living room, and the country-style kitchen equipped with dishwasher, garbage disposal and gas range. Housekeeping services (cleaning & laundry) are available for a fee.
LOCATION:
The home is located in a luscious, leafy 1950s-style neighborhood close to major access roads and public transportation: 10-15 min. WALK to the MARC train which takes you to the US capitol and downtown DC in 20 minutes (4 stops) or 5 min DRIVE to Beach Drive, a scenic road through forest and parkland leading to downtown DC in about 20-30 minutes (attention: deer crossing!); close to 2 metro stations on the red line (Forest Glen and White Flint).
AIRPORT PICK-UP SERVICE for 1 person (my car is a 2-seater convertible): from Dulles Int'l - $35 from Reagan Nat'l - $25 from BWI - $ 45
ENTERTAINMENT: There are plenty of concerts and other entertainment in and around Washington, esp. in the summer and during the X-Mas season. Ask your hostess about city tours and current activities in the Washington area or check the internet. If you prefer to stay in the neighborhood, you can just relax at the pool – your private oasis close to the capital of the world. Or you can window-shop on Antique Row in old-town Kensington (10min walk from the home), have a meal in one of the old-town restaurants, go jogging or biking along Beach Drive, or visit the gorgeous mormone temple at Beach Drive & Stoneybrook (5min drive, 15min walk). In short: there is plenty to do (or not) in and around the home – you won't get bored.
