Rental Details
She's English born, a nature-loving gal in her sixties who keeps a low carbon footprint, living simply, clothes-free when is weather is warm enough.
This beautiful private island is a romantic gem in one of the most spectacular island paradises on Earth and nestled within a bay, it is surrounded by many islands, most with white-sand beaches, live coral reefs, tropical fish life, rugged cliffs and interesting caves.
Friday's home is smoke, drug, alcohol, junk food and noise FREE and she has two cabins for visitors. One is reserved for family visits and the other for chosen special friends (old and new) So if you;re a like-minded person appreciating this outlook on life, she's happy to share quality time with her and you will most likely be the only visitor. This cabin is secluded, native-style, round-roofed and opens onto the beach. It has a queen and single-sized bed, (mosquito nets if needed) with balcony, plus a clean and artistic garden bathroom.
Meals and beverages (F&D) are available from Friday's healthy kitchen (separate from your cabin). Island staffs create dishes with love and attention to detail. Visitors budget an average $50 per day per person for daily island F&D. Seafood, rice, eggs, veggies, seaweeds, beans, coconut, tropical fruits and lots of greens and live sprouts are the regular island fare. Many are sourced from Friday's garden, the fishing village or locally nearby. Served on local grass woven plates, coconut filled bowls and banana leaves; the food looks just like an artist's palate and tastes even better.
Her beach is 220-meter long, white-sand and there are many garden pathways and bridges. Two sun decks build over the sea are great for yoga and other gentle arts and just hanging out in a serene nature. Rocky-Island sun deck has steps down into the sea. Evening beach fires are a delight to sit around and to sing or play the guitar. For a little extra charge a huge floating bon-fire with delightful floating nut candles can be arranged.
You are be welcome to join Friday for early morning yoga and tai chi for FREE, with lessons at a particular time being an extra charge, as is swimming and snorkelling excursions with her. Also FREE to use is the hot tub/Jacuzzi under the stars for evening herbal soaks and the 16-sided yurt Peace Temple a great place for evening meditation. It is here where massage therapies are given if you care to budget extra for them.
Motorboat excursions for exploring other islands or mainland mangrove river trips can be arranged (just ask the night before). Boat hire is $40 for half day, kayak is $9 half day, Mask-snorkel $2 half day. El Nido town is just 40 minutes away by boat where you can buy possible forgotten essentials.
From late October to mid April as green and leatherback turtles visit this fabulous beach to make their nests and lay their eggs, the owner maintains a protective turtle hatchery. So visitors can sometimes help protect the eggs from our four-legged monitor lizards that would devour a whole clutch if given the chance. They also welcome to help document the eggs, or release the baby turtles into the sea at hatching times.
Swimming with these baby turtles when they race into the water and head off to the distant mainland is mind-blowing too as is the opportunity to see turtles swimming and grazing beneath you in the sea if you are snorkeling, or when the mums come up onto the beach at night to lay their eggs.
As of this writing (Jan 20th, 2015) four (4) mother turtles have visited the island so far this breeding season. The first was on December 16th 2014 and she laid 107 eggs, with the expected hatching date set during the last week of February 2015. The second was on December 27th 2014 and she laid 104 eggs, with the expected hatching date set during late February/early March 2015. The third was on January 4th, 2015 and she laid 97 eggs, with the expected hatching date set during the first week of March. The forth was on January 31st, 2015 and she laid 104 eggs, (4 were eaten by a monitor lizard before we got to them. The expected hatching date will be around end March, early April.
Island Power
For several hours each day, Friday runs a 220-Volt back-up generator for heavy loads like Jacuzzi, water pump, carpenters tools, washing machine, plus to charge batteries, computers, cameras and phones etc., relying mostly on quiet 12-Volt solar power available 24 hours a day.
Getting Around
To get to the E Nido area one can either fly from Manila to El Nido direct (this takes 70 mins), or from Manila to Puerto Princesa (PPC) (50 mins), then up to El Nido via shuttle van (5.5 hours.)
From Manila direct you fly via ITI, short for island Transvoyager INC, on a small private 50-seater plane owned by the expensive El Nido Resorts newly bought out by Ayala. These flights are more costly than to PPC. ITI fly 3 times a day and its generally easy to reserve a seat, even long time in advance. They also arrange Manila Hotel pickup. Just google island transvoyager inc or elnidoresorts and ask information. You can also find them on Facebook
From Manila to PPC there are many airlines like zest air cebu pacfic etc, so just google also.
Once you book to stay with the owner, Friday can help you arrange your transportation to her island.
