White Sand Beaches, Near Cartagena

WHITE SANDS / PEÑAS DEL MAR is a private property in the Caribbean Ocean. It will be easy to relax, enjoy the views and its nearby powdery white sand beaches with cristal clear warm water. The house is located on Cholon Bay, Baru Island, a part of Corales del Rosario National Natural Park.

PEÑAS DEL MAR has it´s own private dock where you can tie your boat read a book or enjoy the sun.
WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA The area is ideal for practicing water sports like wind / kitesurfing, scuba diving, snorkeling,fishing, wakeboarding swimming, and cycling. Alfredo, who takes care of the house and lives nextdoor, can take you fishing, to nearby coral reefs in case you want to snorkel, or to Baru, a nearby fishermen village. Groceries and beer can be bought in this village, there is also an ATM in case you need to withdraw some cash.

NEAR ISLANDS OR SPOTS Rosario Islands are only fifteen minutes away by boat. There you can go the Sea Aquarium where you can watch a dolphin show, sharks, turtles, groupers, barracudas and other marine life. Playa Blanca Beach is 25 minutes away. You can get there by boat or by land. Least expensive way to get there costs 10 USD per person

ROOMS All Rooms have one full bathroom, one mini-split air conditioners and Direct TV. In case you want to stay connected, we have a USB modem in case you need go online (internet).

EATING N DRINKING Fresh seafood is brought almost daily to the dock by local fishermen. House has a fully equipped kitchen. Next to the dining area, there is a grill with charcoal ready to be lit. If you want to cook at home and need help in the kitchen, you can hire Ana, our local cook lady. She will prepare delicious dishes like fried or grilled red snapper with coconut rice. You can also get food delivered to the house from the nearby town. There is one nearby beach where you can buy lunch prepared by locals. You can get a nice fish plate with coconut or regular white rice, plantains and salad for 15 USD. You can also buy cold beer for 1.50 USD.
GETTING THERE FROM CARTAGENA. A boat will take you to the house in 45 minutes. A 4x4 car will take you there in 1.5 H.

The least expensive way to get there is by boat. The fare is 9 USD per person per way. These boats departs from Bazurto Market market in Cartagena from Monday to Saturday between 8-10 A.M. To come back, the boat will pick you up at the house at 5:45 am. If you do not want to come back so early, you can return to by land or in a private boat. (I can let you know the cost of returning to Cartagena depending on the amount of persons and type of transportation).

By Land: Jose, a friend of mine drives a taxi and can pick you up at the airport, stop at a supermarket in Cartagena so you can buy groceries and take up to 4 persons for 120 USD.
