10 Bedroom Hotel Lido Managua Nicaragua

Hotel D’Lido was founded by Dimitri Miguel Nickiford (q.e.p.d) originally from Romania.

The hotel was back then called D’Lido Palace. It quickly became one of Managua’s most recognized hotels in the early 40’s. A large number of tourists stayed at the hotel and it was frequented by a large of well known artists such Pedro Infante, Daniel Santos and Jose Maria Peñaranda as well as the first members of the Nicaraguan Chain of Commerce (INCAE) all stayed there.

In the early 40’s Hotel D’Lido back then called D’Lido Palace was located in the heart of Managua at the south side of The Ayuntamiento Palace in front of the Frixione Park in a neighbourhood called San Sebestian near the 7th Northeast Sreet.

In the morning of December 23rd 1972 95% of all buildings in Managua were destroyed by large earthquake which left the entire city in ruins. D’Lido Palace was one of many structures destroyed that day but in 1973 the hotel was reconstructed in a neighbourhood called Altagracia. This time the Hotel was rebuilt to be able to withstand the force of any future earthquakes. The hotel has since then maintained the beauty which it was rebuilt with since 1973 and it now called Hotel D’Lido.

In 1991 Mr. Nickiford past away and ownership of the hotel was transferred to his widowed wife Ms. Josefina Nickiford and to his sons who to this day have maintained the hotel’s theme of it having a Friendly Family Oriented Environment.
