Here at Vila Judite, you will enter a place that has not changed in decades. It was buil by a rich "bacalhau" merchant one hundred years ago as a gift to his beloved wife Judite as a summer family home. People are in and out all the time, house is always with family or friends around. Nothing had change, everything stays the same. It’s as if time has stopped…

The atmosphere we offer is decades old. The entire house, its objects, landscape scenery and tranquillity are permeated with good energy. Good Portuguese vibes. A house full of history and stories.

We have recovered the House Monthly Agenda, the ledger of the domestic economy. We do everything the same way the family did when they spent their four wonderful months of summer here. The same breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.
The recipes most appreciated by the family, the fantastic desserts, the colourful and fun breakfasts.Drink one of many excellent Portuguese wines and taste some of the delicacies without leaving the comfort of home.

The fruit we catch is made into jam, shutneys, jelly, marmelades, with the same 100-year old recipes.
For the quiet moments and enjoy some reading, we have a small library with our favourite Portuguese authors in foreign languages and many charming reading corners from early 19th century or under some very old trees we have at property. As well as watercolours, acrylics and canvas.. and if you want to have a nice day on the coast or stay at night in Viana do Castelo and you don't feel to drive back home, you can stay over night at our lovelely appartment at Viana right on the heart of the city!

During your stay with us, you are helping with the restoration and necessary repairs the house requires to be dignified again. We can’t do it alone. A part of you you remain with us forever.

How to get here
The closest international airport is Oporto, served by Ryan Air and Easy Jet. It is an hour and a quarter minutes drive to Covas; hire car is recommended but not essential, if you are happy to stay in Covas and walk. Covas can be reached by train from Porto to Vila Nova de Cerveira, then a taxi. There are many hire car companies available at Oporto airport. It is advisable to book your hire car at the same time as your flights, because prices go up dramatically if you leave it late.

Distances
Caminha and Vila Nova de Cerveira are two lovely towns on the River Minho, just 20-25 minutes away. The fortress town of Valenca is 30 minutes away and just across the river is Galicia, Spain with its superb restaurants and a surprisingly different culture. Ponte de Lima, with its charming architecture and Viana do Castelo are both within easy driving distance. The Serra de Arga National Park, with its stunning scenery and rock pools, is just 5 minutes from here
