This is the starting point for hikers, bikers, runners, skiers and Nordic walkers to reach some of the most beautiful spots imaginable.

In winter the Hochheide offers fun in the snow with cross-country ski trails, and in spring, summer and autumn you can hike to the summit cross with a view of Hildfeld. The Hillebachsee is another feast for the eyes, a lake that also offers swimming.

Other daytrip destinations include the 'Kahler Asten', the highest summit in this range of low mountains, with wonderful panoramic views. Kappe mountain offers a bobsleigh run, a summer toboggan run, a panorama bridge and a paradise for cyclists. You might also be interested in the area's selection of heritage museums and mining museums where you can tour the mines. The ski lift carousel in Winterberg is a 10-minute drive away, while the local lift is a 15-minute walk.

There is a large playground for children just 3 minutes away. Winterberg has numerous cafes and shops that are inviting places to spend time. You can enjoy the town's restaurant row in the evening.
