Casa di Santolo is a unique home. A place where the characteristics of traditional Crete coexist with a great architectural design, modern amenities and equipment and the personality of its owner, Michalis.

A beautiful, luxurious, restored stone house which combines traditional and modern designer elements. The wooden staircase leads to the attic bedroom. A 27 sqm surface where the fusion of traditional raw elements of wood and stone help formulate a very serene and comfortable atmosphere for the visitor. The ceiling fan and roof window complete the unique scenery for a quiet and relaxing sleep!

Our home is equipped with all essentials. There is a state of the art kitchen, carefully designed in order to fit the characteristics of this unique home. A beautiful loft bedroom in the attic for two people only!

The outer courtyards of the house are covered with an industrial floor and the wooden pergola gives plenty of shade during the hot hours of the day! The functioning wood oven, barbecue, orange and lemon trees next to the flowers and our garden helps create a scene from another time!! Free secure parking is available.

In our home, you will find some basic comforts of modern life but at the same time, you will be able to discover the lifestyle of the Cretans, their way of living emerged in their environment, nature and habits. You will get a glance of the beauty of simplicity and the quality of raw natural materials.

You will have the chance, if you want to, to participate in the daily life of a farmer, by following Michalis (owner of the accommodation) in various agricultural activities such as horticulture, feeding animals, beekeeping, wine and raki production. You can exercise your body in a natural environment or just relax with your family and friends in this idyllic setting. Amenities included are iron, tv, dvd/cd player, washing machine, fully equipped kitchen, microwave, sandwich maker, barbecue and wood oven, board games, safe, books. We also provide fresh and clean linens and towels and essentials such as salt and pepper, coffee, olive oil, shampoo and soaps etc.

NEIGHBORHOOD
Our home is located in the village of Manoliopoulo, near Platanias! There are two cafes where you can drink or eat locally prepared delicacies along with the locals!

In one of the two cafes operates a small grocery store where you will find some basic foodstuff and other essential items. At the village central square, opposite the village church, is a stone fountain and just a few meters further, our village monument which was recently constructed by our culture and history committee. The inhabitants over here are principally engaged in the cultivation of olives and citrus. During summer, expats return back here, to their roots, in order to spend their vacations.

5 km north of the village there is the beach of Gerani and just a couple of kilometers further away the cosmopolitan resort of Platanias! There you can find sandy beaches, large supermarkets, bars of every kind and a vibrant nightlife, restaurants with Greek and international cuisine, car rentals, banks and any service that someone can find in any big city!

For wine lovers, there are several charming wineries in the region such as the Manousakis family winery in the village of Vatolakkos and another one at Anoskeli village. Next to the Anoskeli winery you will find a modern olive oil factory which normally operates from November up to March and one can observe the extraction process from the olive fruit and taste freshly produced organic olive oil!

If you feel like exploring, you can find many famous beaches at this part of our beautiful island, such as the Famous beaches of Elafonisi (70 km), Kissamos bay from where you can embark to a short boat trip towards the world famous Balos sea lagoon(20 km), the also famous beach of Falassarna and many more

At the south of the island, there is the beach and small village of Sougia where the Libyan sea and the south winds will replenish your energy levels and rejuvenate your soul. Also the Sfinari beach (51 km). Last, but not least, the Omalos mountain, where you will find the starting point of the famous Samaria gorge. Casa di Santolo can be your perfect luxurious "base camp".
