Rental Details

The Space

This is a gorgeous 2,700 square foot loft in a former warehouse in Oakland, zoned for live/work. Hardwood floors, 18' ceilings, exposed brick and wood beams. Built-in bookshelves with library ladder. Washer/dryer in unit. Multiple skylights. It is a stunning space. Companies like West Elm and Pottery Barn regularly come to our place to do photo shoots for their catalogs.

The downstairs space includes kitchen, a dining room that seats six, huge living room, open plan office/guest bedroom, and the laundry. The upstairs space includes master bedroom, master bath, second bedroom, second bath, and walk-in storage closet.

We're close to Berkeley, downtown Oakland, and Jack London Square. We're as close to SF as you can possibly get in the East Bay. Hop on the ferry to SF from Jack London Square. Or take BART one stop to SF. Or if you drive, we're just 1 mile from the Bay Bridge. You can be in SF in ten minutes.

Guest Access

You will have this enormous loft to yourself. You'll have wi-fi. You'll have fresh linens. Let us know what you'd like!

Interaction with Guests

We will be out of town during the duration of your stay. We'll have someone meet you with the key, and we will of course respond to any concerns ASAP.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood micro-climate is known as the SF banana belt; we get more sunshine in the afternoons than we know what to do with, and we're normally ten degrees warmer than chilly SF.

Kilovolt Coffee is 2 blocks away for an amazing morning cup of Joe. Walk five minutes and you're at FuseBox, a killer Korean restaurant with kimchi eggs benedict and outdoor patio seating. Brown Sugar Kitchen is another neighborhood favorite.

A ten or fifteen minute bike ride gets you to downtown Oakland or Jack London Square (check out Yoshi's Sushi and Jazz Club), where you can hop the ferry and sail across the bay to San Francisco. You can also walk or bike to the West Oakland BART station, which is just one stop away from San Francisco. Get your produce or morning coffee at the worker-owned Mandela Food Cooperative, which is right across the street from the BART station.

This loft is across the street from the back side of a school and a vibrant kindergarten. One block over is kland Music Complex, a big old warehouse that has been converted into 160 rehearsal studios for local musicians. (No rock-and-roll music can be heard from the loft.) This has historically been an industrial neighborhood, and we're two blocks from American Steel Studios, a hub of art/steel/sculpture/innovation.

Getting around

There's plenty of street parking, so if you'll have a car, getting around is really easy. The West Oakland BART station is a $6 Lyft or Uber ride from our house, and from there it's just one stop to SF. There's also a ferry to SF that leaves from Jack London Square.
