Shops (no surprises here), restaurants, bars and cinemas are within easy reach. Most importantly, living in Orchard means having Gucci, Vuitton and Prada outside your door. So close, they’re practically neighbors. Style worshippers and credit card warriors religiously devout their time navigating through the 22 shopping malls, almost all of them interconnected by underpass that go between the buildings. If you’re too tired to walk, hop on the MRT (subway) to take you to the next shopping mall along Orchard Road. Every Christmas, Orchard Road gets seriously festive with pretty, twinkling lights and sparkling diamonds.
But this neighborhood offers more than just shopping. Orchard is also home to Singapore’s finest museums. On those days you prefer history to Gucci, the Singapore National Museum is treasure trove of Singapore’s history from the 14th century to the modern period. Not too far away, the Singapore Art Museum keeps art enthusiasts content with the world’s largest public collections of modern and contemporary Southeast Asian and international artworks.
For fresh oxygen, grab your Panama hat and head over to the Botanical Gardens.
