Rental Details

Situated on the mountain side, overlooking scenic Shelter Cove, our home offers amazing views of the coasts and miles of Pacific Ocean. Located at 2000 feet, we are most often above the fog layer - which offers another version of an amazing view!

Our home is a remote retreat from city life. Ocean and coastal mountain views will help you find the unplugged relaxation you crave. Nights offer amazing star gazing, since there is no light pollution. If you listen, you'll even hear the waves crashing, the buoy bells tolling, and the seals barking!

It is literally 23 miles down a winding road- through tall trees (yes, redwood groves!), grassy fields, wee hamlets arriving at our retreat-- which still offers the comforts of modern living (dishwasher, washer, dryer, juicer, wifi, phone with answering machine and free nationwide calling)

Plan to arrive in daylight to fully enjoy the majesty of the view as you crest the last hill- and to make driving the road easier!

There are 2 bedrooms with full sized beds, plus a futon sofa that makes into a single bed in the office. 2 bathrooms; Master bath features clawfoot tub with shower, 2nd bath has stall shower.


There is a general store a mile from our home, but best to do you food shopping in Redway or Garberville before you take the Shelter Cove Rd to our home.

The area offers hiking trails, nature trails, beach walks, swimming, surfing, fishing (you can join a charter boat at the Cove).  There is  also a 9 hole par 3 golf course around the  landing strip down at the Cove!

We want you to enjoy your stay- with these few rules:
-no pets
-no smoking of any kind.
- no candles.
-no BBQing
-This home is not small child friendly, due to the extensive decking. Please discuss with us if you are traveling with small children
-No large parties
-NO FISH CLEANING ON THE PREMISES! Please use the wonderful fish cleaning station down in town.
