Traditional Family House in Drakona

Our house is the original thing. Truly authentic, traditional Cretan house, next to the countryside, surrounded by olive trees and picturesque green Cretan hills. You will wake up at the sound of roosters and wild Cretan birds that fly freely and proud on our beautiful clear sunny skies.

Our traditional home is fully equipped and can sleep up to 6 people. It has one master bedroom with a queen+ size bed and a second bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. An extra person can also sleep at the sofa on the living room. If requested, we can provide high chairs and cribs. 

The master bedroom has views to the countryside and it is surrounded by great olive trees. You will wake up by the olive tree filtered sun rays in your bedroom each morning.

The living room is like a typical cretan traditional living room. Heirlooms and WWII artifacts decorate the walls and the fireplace can keep you warm during cold nights. Next to the living room you will find a fully equipped kitchen with all the essentials for preparing any meal you feel like.

At the yard, right next to the kitchen, there is a traditional handmade wood oven and a barbecue for the ones who want to experience food cooked on wood-fire. A unique gastronomical experience.

You will be able to pick fully fresh organic fruits from the lemon, apricot and apple tree that you will find at our garden. Trees that blossoms during spring time and at summer are loaded with juicy fruits.

That is of course if there are any left, since our previous guests may have eaten them all. In that case, you can find all that you need at the near villages of Spilia and Kolympari where there are many local farmers, fishermen and butchers offering the most exquisite of Cretan products.

Also, free range chickens are next to the house and we can show you how to gather daily fresh organic eggs for preparing your breakfast!

Our house is located at one of the most famous villages of Kissamos prefecture, Drakona, at the west part of Chania city, just some kilometers away from the beaches of the North part of the island.

Drakona is a quiet village with one "kafeneio" where you can have some truly traditional raki or glass of wine with the company of local farmers. Near Drakona there is also the beautiful village Spilia and also Marathokefala, Vouves and other traditional villages.

It's very easy to visit many beaches at the north but also west and south part of Chania. Just some km. of distance are the beautiful beaches of Kolympari and Afrata to the north. Platanias area is also very near for the ones that want a night out at a local bar.

To the west you will find the beaches of Ravdoucha, the world known Falasarna beach and Balos peninsula. Elafonisi and Kedrodasos are located at the southwest and at the south of Draona there is Paliochora, Sougia and many more famous beautiful locations.

There are many paths to follow that can offer some breathtaking views. Also, gorges and historical locations like ancient churches. A map with detailed POI and routes to follow will be sent to you after your booking.
