On the same street Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit was born (1686 – 1736) . A physicist, engineer, and glass blower who is best known for inventing the alcohol thermometer (1709) and the mercury thermometer (1714), and for developing a temperature scale now named after him.
Fahrenheit was born in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, into a German Hans merchant family. His five children get married and lived in Gdansk, in my street ;) where you can see the sign on their house.
