Rental Details
Riad Kasbah Oliver is a family run guest house in the High Atlas mountains 17km from Telouet former stronghold of the Glauoi family. Tighza is a group of 4 villages and can also be accessed via Ait Ben Haddou about 1hr 10 minutes drive away on a surfaced road (4 years ago this was an unmade dirt road). Riad Kasbah Oliver is in Warwickht one of the 4 villages and offers stunning views of this part of the Valley and surrounding mountains from 3 different aspects. Completed in April 2011 it combines 3 typical Moroccan building styles, externally a Kasbah with 4 towers, internally a Riad (All rooms leading off central courtyard and walkway) and a Berber House (Stone and earth construction with minimum use of cement, room widths dictated by the roof beams). This is an ideal base for walking and trekking. Lake Tamda is just 4.5 hour walk away where you can camp overnight or return the following day. Unique wildlife found only in the High Atlas, guests are welcome to help out in the kitchen to see how to make delicious Moroccan cous cous meals the traditional way and tagines. Family welcome and family run. Opportunities for those wanting to spend some time in a diferent culture amongst some of the most hospitable people you are ever likely to meet.
The kasbah has a roof terrace for relaxation, yoga or star gazing. A courtyard garden for eating outside in the shade in spring and summer also a place to read or relax. Plenty of places to walk in the local area and further afield, immerse yourself in local culture and tradition or just to chill out and relax in a traditional Berber village. Vegetarians and food allergies catered for, please advise when booking. We work with 2 UK charities to improve lives of the villagers, our work was recognised in 2012 by the projects winning the Moroccan government sustainable tourism awards in the socio econmonic group.
Mobile phones work in the villages and those and Smart phone such as iPhones and Blackberries can get internet access. Computers however cannot get internet connection as 3G does not work in this area.
Guests are welcome to use the dining room as a guest salon. There are always family members on site to help out with any queries.
